Next Project >CoAdvantage
CoAdvantage, a company offering a feature-rich HR web application called CoAdvantage Quantum. Despite offering numerous features and benefits compared to competitors, Quantum faced the challenge of an outdated look and a confusing user interface, hindering its scalability and competitiveness.
The CoAdvantage team sought to revamp the design experience, making it more appealing, user-friendly, and suitable for scaling to a larger employee base.

The Challenge:
CoAdvantage Quantum needed a comprehensive redesign to address the following challenges:
- Outdated User Interface: The existing interface looked dated and unattractive to users.
- User Confusion: Users found it difficult to navigate the app efficiently.
- Scaling Concerns: CoAdvantage aimed to scale its user base from approximately 105,000 employees to 150,000-250,000+ employees.
- Competing with Modern Rivals: The company faced stiff competition from upstart competitors with more modern front-end designs.
- Self-Service Onboarding: There was a need to improve onboarding processes to enable self-service for users.
What We Made:
To address these challenges, I led the project with the support of an associate product designer. We created a design experience that not only met the users' needs but also aligned with the company's growth goals. The key deliverables included:
- Fully Customizable Homepage Dashboard: We redesigned the homepage dashboard, making it highly customizable. It received positive feedback in user tests.
- Simplified UI/UX: We streamlined the UI/UX, allowing users to focus on their most important tasks and work more efficiently.
- Design and Prototyping of Template Flows: We designed and prototyped three of the most popular task flows, which can serve as templates to enhance the user experience.
- Design System: We developed a design system, establishing basic guidelines for creating new pages, components, and brand elements.

What Went Into It:
The successful transformation of CoAdvantage Quantum involved a range of activities and strategies, including:
- Product Strategy: Collaborated with key stakeholder to diagram strategically-determined use cases.
- Alignment with Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with engineering, design, marketing, and customer support teams to ensure a coordinated effort to address these challenges.
- Interaction Design: I was responsible for creating an intuitive and user-centric interaction design.
- Visual Design: We enhanced the aesthetics and visual appeal of the app.
- Prototyping: I led the development of prototypes to visualize and test design concepts.
- Customer Interviews: I actively engaged with users and stakeholders to gather insights, feedback, and requirements.
- Usability Testing: I conducted thorough usability tests to validate the redesign's effectiveness.
Results:
The successful redesign not only enhances the user experience but also strengthens CoAdvantage's competitive position in the HR software market, making it an attractive solution for a larger and more diverse customer base.
The redesign is poised to:
- Reduce Customer Support Calls: The user-friendly design and improved UX are expected to decrease the number of customer support calls.
- Facilitate Scalability: The redesign positions CoAdvantage Quantum to smoothly scale from our current user base of ~105,000 employees to 150,000-250,000+ employees.
- Reduce Friction in HR Processes: The new Quantum platform is set to streamline and simplify HR processes, benefitting all parties involved.
